CHARACTER PROFILES

MARKUS VAUGHN

Markus Vaughn is a doctor gifted with the healing touch and one of the main protaganists of Trauma Center: New Blood along with Valerie Blaylock. Originally a doctor at Concordia Medical Institute, he assisted Dr. Lloyd Wilkens with his research for a while until the risks became too great, this prompted him to volunteer to be transferred out to the Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Alaska, followed by colleague Valerie Blaylock who wished to learn the Healing Touch. His goal is to reverse the damage that has been done and destroy Stigma once and for all.

BACKGROUND

Markus was born in and grew up in California. After receiving his diploma, he eventually came to work in Concordia Medical Institute where he met Professor Lloyd Wilkens. Markus helped Wilkens with his research on the disease that would eventually come to be known as Stigma until the risks became too great. Wishing to hone his skills and do some soul searching, Markus volunteered to be transferred out to the Montgomery Memorial Hospital in Alaska, followed by colleague and friend Valerie Blaylock who wished to learn the Healing Touch from him. Markus was well liked by the staff at Montgomery, and enjoyed his less hectic lifestyle. But when Director Hoover retired and closed Montgomery, Markus, Valerie and ex-patient Elena Salazar who was now assisting Markus were forced to move back to the golden state and return to their positions at Concordia. After the disappearence of Professor Wilkens, Markus, Valerie and Elena were drafted by director Irene Quatro to join Caduceus.

PERSONALITY

Markus is in many ways the Yin to Doctor Blaylock's Yang. Markus remains calm and collected in almost any situation, and doesn't lose his temper when goaded, as is demonstrated when he appeared on Wish Come True: Miracle Surgery. Despite his calm, Markus is passionate about his job and isn't afraid to act when needs be. He genuinely cares about his patients and displays a talent at connecting with them personally. He also posseses a strong sense of morality, as is demonstrated when witnessing the uproar in Culurama.

HEALING TOUCH

Markus possesses the same Healing Touch as Derek Stiles; the ability to block out all distractions and operate up to four times faster than normal, the superhuman level of concentration gives the impression of slowing down time. However, Markus has not yet shown the ability to completely stop time, as Derek has while fighting Savato.

VALERIE BLAYLOCK

An intelligent, caring professional, Dr. Blaylock is eager to learn the Healing Touch from her colleague Dr. Vaughn, whom she followed to Montgomery Memorial. She's passionate about her work and her career, and will speak her mind when necessary. Her Healing Touch differs from Dr. Vaughn's as it is able to stop vitals from falling while it's active. However, this prevents vitals from rising too. Also, as soon as Dr. Blaylock's Healing Touch ends, vitals will automatically rise.

ELENA SALAZAR

Elena Salazar is a young woman suffering from intractable pancreatic necrosis, and Valerie and Markus's assistant. As the nurse, Elena helps contribute to the elimination of the biological weapon Stigma.

BACKGROUND

Sometime in the year 2021 (which was also when Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2 occurred) a immunity suppressant pump unit was implanted in her by Markus Vaughn while she was 13 years old. She later got an International Nursing License and got a job at the Concordia Medical Institute.

7 years later, she arrived at Montgomery Memorial Hospital caring for a gunshot victim in Episode 1-3. After the operation is complete, she reveals herself as a nurse and also reveals that the implant inside her pancreas is malfunctioning, and needs to be replaced. Markus performs the operation on her, saving her through the incredible use of the Healing Touch. She then stays as the permanent nurse of Markus and Valerie once they return to Concordia Medical Institute in Los Angeles.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion

ABOUT THE GAME

The Nintendo DS doctor sim now comes to the Wii console -- use the unique controller to save patients' lives! You play the surgeon in this exciting medical drama simulation. You'll need to cure patients of everything from routine medical maladies to life-threatening designer viruses. And, of course, there's all that drama waiting just outside of the operating room. Your medical toolkit includes scalpels, forceps, defibrillator paddles, syringes and more -- all designed for use with the Wii Remote!

GENERAL FEATURES

Use your favorite returning tools in an all new way! The Wii Remote allows for precision controlling of the scalpel, surgical laser, and more. You can even feel the action with the built-in Rumble feature.

A story expanded from the same events as "Under the Knife," with nip-and-tuck work on the game text as well as all-new plotscenes and operations featuring an all new doctor character.

CHARACTER PROFILES

NAOMI KISHIMA

(also known under the false name Nozomi Weaver during her time in Delphi) is a Japanese-born doctor and is known to master the Healing Touch.

Kimishima is introduced during the 'Z' episodes of Second Opinion. Originally a doctor in Japan, her ability to use the Healing Touch made her known as the Devil Doctor because of its supernatural effect. She lost her medical license in Japan for having 'magical powers'. Delphi gave her a new name and had her operate on GUILT-victims that they wanted to use for further tests. Her Healing Touch proved valuable in achieving this. She is playable in the 5 'Z' episodes, 4 operations during Chapter 6 and the X episodes.

Her healing touch differs from Derek's in that it allows her to raise a patients' vitals by receiving "Cool", "Good", or "OK" ranks in her actions. After Delphi is found and eliminated, she offers samples of immature Savato and her surgical skills ( and Healing Touch ) to Caduceus Europe in exchange for immunity.

In X-7 of Second Opinion, she breaches the standard of the X missions and talks while Savato goes berserk, saying that she would "have to try it the way Derek does it." Then, after she succeeds and kills Savato, "Well, I must have done it good enough, because it worked", leaving her the only one to have used a Healing Touch that wasn't originally theirs.

PERSONALITY

Derek Stiles is a hard working surgeon at Caduceus willing to do anything for his patients. He wasn't always willing though, in the first game, he shows a lack of focus and lack of attention to his patients which almost causes one of them to die, when a unnoticed tumor behind their lungs ruptures. Following the resulting berating he believes he is useless as a doctor and goes downtown where he hears about a car crash. He realizes that although the paitents need medical attention their are no surgeons at Hope at that point in time. Following this operation he is focused and concenrated. It has also been seen that Derek is a bit of a sweet talker when it comes to older women, to the point where he's been called "very smooth." Unfortunately, when he is caught off guard and asked about who he truly loves, he becomes embarrassed and shy. (At the end of Trauma Center : Under the Knife 2, a relatonship between Angie and Derek is implied, even though Angie seemed not too keen of Derek at times in the first game)

ANGIE THOMPSON

Angie Thompson is a nurse from Hope Hospital who (along with Derek Stiles) transferred to Caduceus USA. She is Derek's assistant. She may seem a bit critical at times, but only to help Derek work at his full potential. At the end of Trauma Center: Under the Knife 2, a relationship between Angie and Derek is implied, even though she seemed to be not so keen of him at times during the first game.

BACKGROUND

At 8 years old, Angie's father, Kenneth Blackwell, abandoned his family without providing a reason why. His absence has always greatly affected her. Her interest in his work inspired her to work in the field of medicine. She holds an International Nursing License.
